Weekend Update

What a weekend, it was filled with AFF, Tandems, Fun Jumpers and Sunset Loads. I would like to thank the staff at Fly Free Skydiving, I could not do it without you. We will start opening on Fridays starting this coming Friday April 26th, as long as I can find a pilot. Stay tuned, I will let you know when I have secured the pilot. I hope everyone has a great week and I look forward to next weekend of fun in the sun from 10,500 feet!!! Mark

Accelerated Freefall

In an Accelerated Freefall (AFF) skydive you exit the plane with two AFF rated instructors who insure your stability and that you deploy your main parachute at the proper altitude. You then fly your own parachute safely to the ground with radio assistance from another instructor. An AFF first jump requires about 4 hours of ground school to learn to properly fly the parachute. The cost of an AFF first jump is $289. You may capture the experience on digital video and stills for an additional $85.

An AFF jump is for the true thrill seekers. This is how the military trains it’s troops for freefall. You get the excitement of freefall and the pride of flying your own parachute.

The AFF progression toward a skydiving license consists of 7 jumps, each of which have a series of tasks that must be completed in order to progress on the the next level. AFF is the fastest way to learn to fly your body in freefall. The first 3 jumps are with two instructors and the last 4 jumps are with one instructor.

Instructor Assisted Deployment

The Instructor Assisted Deployment (IAD) is similar to a Static Line jump, only an instructor deploys the parachute instead of a static line. This method provides a much softer and much more controlled opening than the older static-line method of training.

During an Instructor Assisted Deployment (IAD) jump, you exit the plane from 5,000 feet above the ground and an IAD rated instructor immediately deploys your parachute for you. You then fly your own parachute safely to the ground with radio assistance from another instructor. An IAD first jump also requires about 4 hours of ground school to learn to properly fly the parachute. This method of instruction replaces the old static line method. It allows you to use the very same equipment as a student that you will be using as an experienced skydiver. This eliminates the confusion when transitioning from a static line to the throw-out pilot chute that experienced skydivers use. The cost of an IAD first jump is $160, which includes the cost of Ground School. The next few jumps are only $60 each, making the IAD Program the most cost effective way to get a skydiving license.

In order to make an IAD first jump, you will need to attend a 4 hour ground school to learn to safely fly your parachute.
