Just some friendly advice from a Cop. How many of you have your serial numbers to your rigs, canopies, and other expensive gear written down somewhere other than the label on the gear? As someone who sees the victims of theft on a consistent basis fail to have this important information I can attest that it absolutely kills almost any chance of us ever being able to retrieve your property! This is because in order to register your property as stolen in the Missouri Uniform Law Enforcement System (M.U.L.E.S.) or National Crime Information Center (NCIC) ,which are the computer systems Cops use to find out if an item is stolen, when NEED a numeric identifier! This may seem like common sense, but you would be surprised to know just how many people have very expensive items stolen, and have no serial number! Another tid bit of info, if you have something of value that doesn't have a serial number then just make your own! Make sure it is PERMANTLY marked on the item, and you have recorded it elsewhere for reference if it is stolen! If that is done it can STILL be entered into the system. Like I said this is common sense, but I am always surprised how many people fail to do this simple step to aid us in recovering their property. Have you? If not get on it! Blue Skies!
