Well it’s about time! This last weekend at Fly Free Skydiving we finally got the chance to shake the rust off! The sun was shinning all day Sunday, the temperature was warming to the upper 40’s, and the winds were nice and light! Talk about a perfect day to make some skydives! Now I am happy to be knocking the rust off of my keyboard and settling back into writing the weekly updates I’ve missed working on this very long and un-skydiver-friendly winter!!!

With the uppers cranking on Saturday we just knew that Sunday was going to be the day we had been waiting for. When we woke up to the birds chirping and the sun warming the air nothing could hold us back! Quickly we headed to the airport where we were met with smiling, eager faces! Emiko and Van were getting the 206 ready for fun and Mark and I took time to reacquaint ourselves with manifest!

Our good friends from SEMO Skydiving were out to play with us! We really are getting used to seeing you guys – we’ve been kind of spoiled – and we hope the trend continues! Along with Doris and Craig was new comer Gene. What a great bunch of people – ya’ll are welcome to jump with us anytime! Thanks for turning pieces with me guys – we hope to see you again real soon!

The tandems started working their way in not long after the first load left the ground and didn’t stop until we were chasing down the sun. Kyler joined us to celebrate his 18th birthday with his proud Dad Mark! Both guys did an excellent job and I’m pretty sure we have Mom talked into coming out to take the plunge herself here soon!

Among our excited tandems was also the very brave Ben! Not only was Ben brave for showing up in SHORTS but this was not only Ben’s 1st skydive, but Ben’s 1st ever airplane ride! WOW! Did he have a blast! Way to go Ben! Let’s see just how many airplane rides you can take without landing in one!

With Emiko behind the yolk Van took advantage of one of the open slots and made his FIRST skydive at Fly Free Skydiving. Hey Van – what kind of beer are you brining us next week?! Emiko received many compliments on her flying – nothing like a woman’s touch – and we are so very happy to have the 206 for the season – what a sweet ride to altitude!

New comer Cody was in attendance, getting himself some fresh air… And Johnny came and knocked out 3 skydives with Mike. He’s well into his freefall now and proving to be a natural! Blake covered the packing mat (thanks for the nice opening Blake!) and Mike and were lucky to split the video slots! Big thanks, as always, to Terry for joining us for the fun! I love chasing your tandems Terry!

The sun started closing in on us way earlier then any of us wanted, I could of kept skydiving for hours! Less then two weeks and we get to take advantage of Day Light Savings Time and spring forward – I can’t wait for those longer days! Friendly reminder – March 13th is Safety Day at Fly Free Skydiving! We will start the day at 9am and all are encouraged to attend. We’ll cover all the basics, answer any questions anyone has, and make sure we are all ready to welcome the 2010 skydiving season!

Until Next weekend!
XOXO
