Weekly Update for 5/25/09
As the old saying here in Missouri goes, “if you don’t like the
weather, wait 5 minutes, it will change!”. With the weekends forecast
for rain and clouds and nothing conducive to skydiving we had a crowd of
skydivers at the DZ all weekend ready to do just that - wait for the
weather to move out so we could get some air time!

As luck would have it, the weather was fairly cooperative for most of
the weekend. In total we were able to get 30 loads off the ground!
Saturday’s morning storm moved out by about noon time and we were taking
loads to 10,500 with nothing but blue skies surrounding us. We had some
new fun jumpers make there way out this weekend and we were also busy
getting new jumpers in the air and on their way to becoming licensed
skydivers!

Big congrats to both John and Dustin who joined us this weekend and were
both cleared for solo and coach jumps! Both of you guys did fantastic
and will be turning in that A license application in no time! A HUGE
thank you to Baglock for coming all the way out to help us get these
fine gentlemen in the air! We couldn’t have done it without you Bag,
you rock!!

Saturday was not just an awesome day of skydiving under blue skies - but
a FANTASTIC night of home cookin by the Kula clan!! Mom and Dad Kula
(AKA Rob and Debbie) were out with their kitchen on wheels bound and
determined to increase all of our fall rates!! Fish, hot dogs, home
made potato chips, potato salad… You name it and they made it!! As if
a night of amazing cooking wasn’t enough, the next morning they were
busy on the grill again with breakfast potatoes, eggs and bacon! It’s
safe to say the plane was climbing a bit slower after the feast they
brought us!

Sunday was a day for hop and pops! We just couldn’t let the 6000 ft
ceiling discourage our spirits! We got up 11 loads of hop and pops.
Amanda did a BEAUTIFUL job on here new 210 - you go girl!!! We also had
the very talented, and ever so sweet Colleen out to make her 200th
skydive! Way to go girl, I still owe you about 180 spanking I do
believe, you better be out this weekend so we can settle up

Anyone who was at the DZ this weekend knows that Mike Toombs is bound
and determined to get to his 200th skydive so he can go out and earn
some new ratings! Well, as to not disappoint the man after dinner
Sunday night we had a decent ceiling and at least another 30 minutes of
day light so we went up for one more hop and pop before calling it a
night. It was the perfect way to end the day! That Mike is a jumpin
machine I tell you!!!

After 2 good days of jumping when Monday woke us up with pouring down
rain we had thought our luck may have run out. However, there was just
enough luck left in the weekend and we had another day of successful
jumping to go! We started the day with hop and pops and enjoyed the
light winds with some long swoops and balancing acts in the landing area
- that morning dew will either make your landing look like water skiing
or it will make you look like you are sliding into home plate!!!

We also welcomed Kristi into the family this weekend - our very excited
tandem progression student who is well on her way to getting that A
license! Kristi did an excellent job on her tandem with Mark, keeping
her altitude awareness and deploying the parachute - WOO HOO!

All in all a weekend that many looked at and said “awww man!” turned
out to be pretty darn successful! Lots of jumping, good food, good
friends and new skydivers in the making! Thank you to everyone who came
out and helped us enjoy the jumpable skies! Until next weekend…
