Weekly Update for 6/8/09
Mother Nature was back to her evil tricks this weekend! We spent way
too much time on the ground prompting some very interesting conversation
and a little event planning. Of course for those of us who crave that
air time like no other there was no giving up hope! With Mike bound and
determined to get in his freefall time, me trying so hard to reach my
500, and Mark, well, just being Mark, if there was a hole or a period of
calm winds we were gearing up!

Saturday was one of those pure evil days with warm temperatures and
bright come-play-in-me skies with honking winds. Nothing more
frustrating then sitting on the ground waiting for the winds to calm
down. Never the less we were able to get up some loads early on. Banks
nailed his first hybrid (WOO HOO!) with Mike and Rich and Jeff and I
were tuning some mean points above Festus!

Calling it a day rather early the usual gang was headed out for
margaritas and, yea, a little food too. Figuring Sunday would be a
better jumping day we were up and at em early only to be faced with
clouds and rain. Still, Kerry was ready to jump and it doesn’t take
much to talk Mark and I into the plane and we got up a whole big ONE
hop-n-pop load before admitting defeat. Seems as if we made the right
call too. Wasn’t long before pilots from all around were coming in for
landing to wait out the storm.

With a weekend of not nearly enough time in the sky we were hoping for
some clearings on Monday. The rain lingered but we were still able to
get in some hop and pops. I was even able to catch a ride to 4,000 feet
with Mark and Mike and the very wonderful Ed the Pilot after work before
heading home. There are some pretty neat-o perks to being the DZO!

All in all, we would have loved to do more skydiving but a good time was
still had. This upcoming weekend we will be in full swing again,
hopefully with a little cooperation from mother nature! Cory will be
out for his last weekend before he ships out to the Army. We are having
a gathering to say goodbye although we are all taking bets on when the
Army will give up and send him back our way!!!

So - to sum it up - we didn’t jump enough last weekend and we have some
serious making up to do this weekend! Cory will be out one last time,
come say adios and make your pick for when the Army will send him back!
Weekend after next is the FOGHAT concert at the airport, get your
tickets through ticket master, only $25!!! Party with us at the concert
and stick around for a great day of jumping Sunday…..

Until next weekend…
XOXO
