Weekly Update for 8/30/09
Another weekend passes at Fly Free Skydiving and yet another weekend
is quickly approaching. The temperatures were much more Fall like then
anything and the plane was climbing her little heart out! Mother Nature
seems to be chilling out a little and letting us have decent weather on
the weekends and we sure hope it stays that way!

Saturday was nothing short of a beautiful day for skydiving! With a few
wispy white clouds decorating the otherwise bright blue sky, and light
winds on the ground, the playground above Festus was the perfect place
to be! We started the day with a 1st jump course with both IAD and AFF
students and we were all ready to take on the sky!

The fabulous Dave the pilot was out flying our quick little ride to
altitude and there were many smiles to be seen at the DZ, especially in
the landing area! We had our usual awesome broad of tandems out to
experience the thrill and Mark did an wonderful job of keeping the plane
turning! And, speaking of fabulous, Amanda had a totally sweet,
awesome, rocking, stand up landing on her brand new Triathlon 220! You
go girl!!!!

Curtis made his category A skydive and Lutz and I enjoyed the ride!
Curtis is gung-ho about getting through AFF before he departs for
Afghanistan on Sept 20th – hopefully he’ll be back out this weekend to
keep the momentum going!

Chris and Gene were out to give Mike a chance to use his IAD rating
Sunday morning! These two guys were a blast and we can’t wait for them
to come out again! Watching these two celebrate in the landing area is
part of what the sport is all about, you just can’t help but catch their
enthusiasm when they tip toe back to Earth. Thank you guys for making
our morning fun!

Well it wasn’t long after the Chris and Gene made their 2nd jumps of the
day that the clouds started to roll in. What started off as pretty
scattered looking clouds ended up to be a blanket of clouds over the DZ
once Lutz and I got Matt, our returning AFF student, to altitude. A
rather quick ride to 11,000 feet followed by a bummer of an airplane
ride back down but it’s better then getting under canopy and not seeing
the airport!

This weekend is shaping up to be nice and busy, we start the weekend
with 5 tandems Friday afternoon and will be in full swing Friday,
Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Come enjoy your Labor Day with us and get
some fun jumps in before the cold starts spreading across the Midwest!
We plan on grilling and if the interest is there we will have a full
moon perfect for some night jumps… See you there!

Until Next Week,
XOXO
Ash
