Weekly Update for 11/01/09
The sun is setting earlier and the weather is getting colder, which
can only mean two things, time to start bundling up and cramming in as
many skydives as possible during the daylight! This weekend at Fly Free
Skydiving we did just that!

We started the day on Saturday with some howling winds on the ground and
uppers that were equally as inhibiting. We spent the majority of the day
trying to decide if it were time to turn on the beer light or not and
discussing the evenings Halloween party. Low and behold, about sunset
the winds broke and Mark was happy to chase Terry and I on a rockin 2
way!

Now that we finally got some air time, the focus was quickly shifted to
the Halloween party set to commence in the hanger. The Kula’s (AKA Dog
the Bounty Hunter and wife Beth) were set up with their usual cook out
equipment and slowly but surely the “trick or treaters’ came wondering
in…

Since we were to gain an hour of sleep with day light savings time
ending Saturday night, we decided to celebrate the gift of time by
taking full advantage of it. The food was delicious (as always), the
punch was better with every bottle of rum that was poured into it, and
you just couldn’t beat the company! Thanks to everyone who came out and
had a good time with us!

Late to bed and early to rise was the general theme the next morning.
With sunny skies and calm winds the day was looking perfect for some
skydives. Kyle must have noticed it too because he was out bright and
early Sunday morning, donuts in hand, ready to get in some AFF jumps.
Not only did Kyle get in some awesome skydives, I’m very proud and
pleased to announce he also became our newest AFF graduate!! Congrats on
a job well done Kyle, you earned every bit of it, now just keep up the
good work, be safe, and keep having fun!

Gina and Cynthia were also out this weekend to take the plunge. These
two lovely ladies brightened up the sky above Festus and you just
couldn’t help but catch a buzz off of their energy!

Dave, who has been waiting for weeks, finally had is brand new gear out
at the DZ ready to jump! A quick hop and pop in the morning and a
perfect landing on his new Firebolt 145. Well, Dave must be one of those
people that likes to really test drive their equipment to see how it
handles, because on jump two Dave was landing his brand new reserve and
we were already out chasing his main and free bag down! Luckily Dave was
unharmed and even though it had been at least 15 years since he last had
to initiate his emergency procedures, it was still 2nd nature to him.
Not to mention we were able to retrieve his gear in no time! WOO HOO!

The fun jumpers were out Sunday taking advantage of the warm
temperatures and the calm breeze. Connie, Joe, Amanda, Sean and Jean
Michelle kept the plan turning between the tandem and AFF loads and
decorated the sky with their vibrant canopies!

Yet another great weekend of skydiving and friends out at Fly Free
Skydiving and so many more to come! If you haven’t already heard, we
will be hosting a Super Otter Nov. 14th and 15th so come get your
turbine fix! This sweet ride holds up to 22 jumpers and is a quick ride
to altitude in just about 10 minutes! For more information check out the
forums or if you have any questions call and let us know! We hope to see
you there!

Until next weekend…
XOXO
