Weekly Update for 11/08/09
Seventy degree temperatures in the middle of November seem to be
somewhat a fairy tale… Not this last weekend! The sky was blue and the
air was so warm (a very nice 50 degrees at 9000 feet) that people we
taking off their gloves and pulling back out the summer gear!

As luck would have it, the nice weather was in part thanks to a nice
southern wind. The same wonderful breeze which brought us spring like
temperatures was also to thank for the 50 MPH winds pushing through the
sky at 3000 feet! Too much for any of us to even want to fly our
canopies through, we gave into the weather pretty early Saturday…

A good day to complete the Fly Free Skydiving sign on the side of the
hanger I braved my silly fear of heights and climbed to the top of the
ladder to paint! Colleen was out to help me and in no time we were
standing back admiring our wonderful work! Thanks for the help Col,
you’re the best!!!

The day was not lost however! Flying was still an option! Once you got
above about 5000 feet the air was nice and smooth. We took the plane
down to Fort Leonard Wood to meet up with Mark’s Mom and sister Tallie
for some Mexican food that was well worth the travel! Steven and Cindy
joined us for the ride, and we made a day of it!

Saturday came to an end with the winds calming right around dark. The
next morning we were up early and hoping for the same warm temperatures
and a little less wind. We got our wish and the day was absolutely
perfect for making some skydives!

Connie and Kyle kept Mark and I entertained both in the ground and in
the air! The 4 of us filled the plane for several loads, taking full
advantage of the great temperatures! Connie and I got to turn some
awesome points! I was so grateful for her company I showed my
appreciation with a kiss pass. I think she was impressed, and the
picture proves it!

Colleen was also out soaking in the sun! Jumping on a quick load for a
hop and pop, this girl doesn’t mess around! She had a beautiful landing
back at the hanger and then was packing up to go home. We tried to get
her to stay, but alas a Swine Flu ridden Banks was on her mind and she
was off to go bring soup and some love to warm his soul!

As the sun started to set, which coincidently is way too early these
days, smiles were abundant at the DZ. A full day of fun jumps and warm
temperatures that trumped most of the days out at the DZ all summer
long. Not too bad for the 2nd weekend in November really! I just hope
this is the beginning of a long winter trend!!

Until Next weekend….
XOXO,
Ashes
